You pay a lot of money for a proper chicken coop, so you expect a product that not only looks good but one that gives you years of trouble-free service.
We construct this 6-seater chicken coop with solid pine only: no sheets, no particle boards, no plywood, no import low-grade or lightweight wood from Asia.
Nothing on our coops is nailed together cheap- cheap. We only use rust-resistant screws, galvanised bolts and stainless steel hinges – all expensive.
To last, we treat the pine with the best marine-grade timber sealer available, the same that ocean-going yachts protect. We don’t go the cheap linseed oil treatment way. Linseed oil is suitable for wooden planter boxes but not for valuable objects like this.
The henhouse base is constructed with CCA pressure treated timber. It can stand in mud for years without rotting away.
The coop is elevated to keep vermin out. The ‘Villa’ has a dual nesting box and two built-in roosting perches. Each roost comfortably sleeps up to three regular-sized chickens side by side. The hinged egg box lid allows for quick egg collection and cleaning. You can block off the nesting compartment to the hens.
The ‘Villa’ is equipped with a pull-out droppings tray and a hinged maintenance door for easy access and cleaning. You can lock the door above the chicken ladder to keep the chicken in or out.
A passive ventilation system prevents over-heating of the henhouse in full sun. The underside of the henhouse provides additional sun and rain protection.
GardenStuff’s chicken coops are unmatched, and they add character to your garden.
