Use Case:
The ‘Villa’ is ideal for sleeping up to six average-sized chickens that roam around freely during the day.

The ‘Ikhaya‘ might be sufficient if you have only two chickens.
If you have more than six free-roaming chickens, check out the ‘Waldorf Eggstoria‘.
If your chickens need to be confined temporarily to a chicken run, look at the ‘Nkandla XL‘.

Description:
You pay good money for a proper chicken coop, so you expect a product that looks pleasing and gives you years of trouble-free service.

We construct this 6-seater chicken coop with solid pine only: no sheets, no particle boards, and no low-grade or lightweight wood imported from Asia.
Nothing on our coops is nailed together cheap- cheap. We only use rust-resistant screws, galvanised bolts and stainless steel hinges – all expensive materials.

To withstand the elements, we treat the pine with the best marine-grade timber sealer available, the same that ocean-going yachts protect. We don’t go the much cheaper linseed oil treatment way, and linseed oil is suitable for wooden planter boxes but not valuable objects like a chicken coop.
The material for the henhouse base is CCA pressure treated timber, and it can even stand in mud for years without rotting away.

The henhouse is elevated on a base to provide protection from the elements and to keep vermin out. The ‘Villa’ possesses a dual nesting box and two built-in roosting perches. Each roost comfortably sleeps up to three regular-sized chickens side by side. The hinged egg box lid allows for quick egg collection and cleaning. You can block off the nesting compartment to the hens.

The ‘Villa’ is equipped with a pull-out droppings tray and a hinged maintenance door for easy access and cleaning. You can lock the door above the chicken ladder to keep the chicken in or out.
A passive ventilation system prevents over-heating of the henhouse in full sun. The underside of the henhouse provides additional sun and rain protection.

GardenStuff’s chicken coops are unmatched and add character to your garden.

  2. Hawa (verified owner)

Thank you for this excellent quality coop. I have not come across such a well made animal shelter. My only suggestion would be to use a different material at the bottom of the tray and nesting box. It gets damaged if there is some water that gets near it. other than that I love the Villa. Thank you!

    • Uli

Thank you very much for your compliment and especially your suggestion, dear Hawa. We treasure constructive criticism as it helps to creep closer to perfection, one request at a time. We made our first ‘Villa’ model about six years ago, and today’s blueprint has little in common with the original prototype. So thank you again that you, too, are helping us become and remain the top commercial chicken coop producer in the country.

  3. Merle Melvill

Wow, what can I say. I love it! My hens love it!!

    • Uli

Thank you so much for your five stars, Merle. We love it that you and your feathery friends love their Villa.
